Sharon Jedel, Psy.D.

Sharon Jedel, Psy.D. received her doctorate from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Clinical Psychology, Yeshiva University and graduated in 2004. Upon completion of her training, Dr. Jedel was accepted as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Program for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Studies, at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital. The fellowship combined research and clinical activities related to trauma, stress and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dr. Jedel received comprehensive training in the treatment of depression and anxiety as they relate to stressful events.

Dr. Jedel currently provides clinical services to patients who present with chronic gastrointestinal (GI) problems, such as functional GI disorders (e.g. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, non-ulcer dyspepsia, etc) and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as pelvic pain. Dr. Jedel incorporates mind-body techniques, i.e., relaxation training and stress management with her patients, particularly as this population frequently identifies psychosocial distress as an important factor that contributes to disease exacerbations.

Dr. Jedel is currently the Clinical Psychologist for the Section of Gastroenterology & Nutrition at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
